Service Projects

The Spartanburg Southside Lions Club is committed to making a positive impact in our community and beyond through a variety of service projects. We invite you to join us in our efforts to make a difference and help those in need. The Spartanburg Southside Lions Club is now a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization. Any and all donations are welcomed and appreciated.

Backpack Buddies

One of our ongoing projects is the Backpack Buddies program. We collect food items every month to send home with students at Mary H. Wright Elementary School who may not have access to warm, healthy meals on the weekends. By providing them with food, we are ensuring that these students have the energy and nutrition they need to succeed in school.

Leo Club

Another way we serve our community is through the Leo Club at Carver Middle School and The South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. This service club is open to all middle school students who want to make a difference. Through the Leo Club, young people learn the value of leadership, gain valuable experience, and have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the world.

Eye Screenings

We also conduct eye screenings at local schools and health events, and assist those who need help purchasing eyewear with an approved low-income application. Our club is committed to ensuring that everyone has access to proper eye care, regardless of their financial situation.

Assisting Local Families

In addition, we provide assistance to local families facing hardships. Whether it's a house fire or a medical emergency, we step in to help in any way we can. Our club is dedicated to making sure that our community members feel supported and cared for.

Upstate Stand Down

We also participate in larger events, such as the Upstate Stand Down, which provides services to homeless veterans and their families. We work with other organizations and agencies to provide social services, housing, mental health services, health services, employment services, and more. Our club is proud to be a part of this initiative, and we are committed to helping those who have served our country.

Panera Bread's Day End Doughnation

We also collect donations from Panera Bread® through their Day End Doughnation program, which provides unsold bread and baked goods to those in need. We distribute these donations to various organizations and families in our community, including the Hospice House and the Downtown Rescue Mission.

Miracle Hill Coat Drive

During the winter months, we collect food and blankets for Miracle Hill to help keep people warm.

Peace Poster Program

We encourage creativity and promote peace through our Peace Poster Program. We sponsor an art contest in schools and youth groups, giving children the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.

Yes We Can

Finally, we recently participated in a district-wide challenge to collect canned foods for the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Food Pantry.

We invite you to join us in our efforts to make a positive impact on our community and beyond. Whether you are interested in joining our club or simply volunteering for one of our service projects, we would love to have you be a part of our Lions family.
